There is no more versatile, accomplished, admired, and prolific writer than Joyce Carol Oates.  She has published countless award-winning and best-selling novels and collections of short fiction, as well as essays, plays, poetry, and a memoir. Her most recent novel is My Life as a Rat. She is a long-standing Professor at Princeton University. Henry Louis Gates Jr. said: “A future archaeologist equipped with only her oeuvre could easily piece together the whole history of post-war America.”  In 2010, she was awarded The National Humanities Medal by President Obama. Joyce Carol Oates will be in conversation with Geoffrey Harpham, former president and director of the National Humanities Center and currently Senior Fellow at Duke University.
