Book Release Party for Steve Hawk -- NEARSHORE

Head to Hed Hi Studio, 654 King St., downtown Charleston, Wed., Sept. 23, 6 pm, to celebrate Steve Hawk's debut novel, Nearshore (Viking, 352 pp., $32). He'll be in conversation with local writer Chris Dixon, author of Ghost Wave, who worked with Steve at Surfer magazine in the 90s.

This event is free with the option to reserve a book in advance. Books will also be available for sale on site. 

Steve Hawk is the former editor of Surfer, Sierra, and Stanford Business magazines. His first book, Waves, explores the science and aesthetics of ocean waves. He is currently co-writing a book with his brother Tony Hawk, about the history and culture of skateboarding. He also worked as a writer and consultant on the HBO series John From Cincinnati.

He has been surfing for nearly 60 years, and is one of a handful of people to have ridden waves on all seven continents. He lives with his family near Half Moon Bay, California, where he spends as much time as possible in the ocean.
