MOJA Black Frequencies with Marcus Amaker & A$iahMae Thomas: Poetry, Sound & Vision

Charleston's first and second Poet Laureates, Marcus Amaker and A$iahMae Thomas, present an immersive evening of poetry, original electronic music, live accompaniment and projected visual art. Rooted in Black cultural traditions while embracing contemporary performance, the evening explores memory, ancestry, joy, resistance and imagination. Books from local poets also will be available for purchase in the Cannon Street Arts Gallery following the performance.
MOJA: the annual, eight-day, national celebration of Black arts, culture and heritage that honors the lasting contributions of the African Diaspora.
MOJA is produced by MOJA Arts, a new 15-501 (c) 3 nonprofit and the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs. Join residents of Charleston and guests from across South Carolina and the country to experience the city’s unique cultural and historical connection to the global Black experience through music, food, and artisans.
