Sound Fills Darkness: a night of intimate music with Sam Rae and Bailey Bigger.

Join us as we explore the connection between live music in an intimate setting and feeling connected to something bigger.

Blending a degree in classical performance with an improvisational, jazz inspired past Sam Rae brings a sense of wonder to her now alternative folk music. Sam Rae weaves cello harmonies in between songs that tell stories of life, loss and joy. With a sweeping alto voice, reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Rae’s music will encourage you to consider the simple and complex parts of living. Sam Rae spent 2018-2021 on the road as a backup cellist and vocalist for Brandi Carlile and has released three independent albums; Ten Thousand Years (2020), Bring Us to New Islands (2017) and Stories from the Marrow (2014).

Growing up in small town, Marion, Arkansas, just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, Bailey Bigger began writing and performing seriously in Memphis at the age of 14. Her debut full length album, “Coyote Red,” released with Madjack Records in March of 2022 and gained national attention for her earthy songwriting and haunting vocals. “Bigger’s artistry is out of bounds, with such vulnerable and truthful lyrics, she is singlehandedly bringing classic American songwriting back to life.” - RJ Frometa (Vents Magazine)
