About Thomas Kenney:
Thomas Xavier Kenney has been pickin’ for twenty years. Residing in Charleston, SC, Thomas (or TK as friends call him) has been playing in bands professionally for over 15 of those 20. Specializing in a wide range of American music, he has a versatile professional background in Jazz, Rnb, Gospel, Motown, as well as Heavy Metal, Afro Cuban, Brazilian Jazz, and more. He plays guitar for Doom Flamingo, a nationally touring, 80’s infused synthwave band, as well as leading his own old school guitar trio band named ‘Sweet Baby’ which ranges from straight up funk organ/guitar trio, to roots dub reggae, and gospel quartet.
“While I draw influence from as far as India and Morocco in my music, my sound is definitely Southern. Playing with Charleston’s Gospel and RnB musicians has been super influential on my sound’’ TK says. He began playing in blues clubs around the age of 15, and locally you can catch him playing venues with a variety of outfits in Charleston, such as Grammy winning Charlton Singleton of Ranky Tanky, Ross Bogan’s WOLFMASK, and Mike Quinn’s Superfunk.
Additional professional skills include audio engineering, mixing and mastering, vintage amp repair, guitar technician work, and hanging out with his wife Georgia and their dog Nautica.
