Ethiopian Pop Up Dinner

Veronica Cunningham is coming in as a guest chef with our own Kathleen Gilbert to cook up some tasty treats. 

We will provide a combination plate of vegetarian and meat dishes, as well as strictly vegetarian and even VEGAN options! 

For those of you unfamiliar with Ethiopian food, it's all about COMMUNITY. These plates are big, so bring a few friends to share with, though we will be able to accommodate for single diners as well!

Appetizer: 

Sambusas (V)

Fried flaky pastry filled with lentils, carrots, onions, and spices 

Salad:

Timatim Salata (Tomato Salad) (V) (S)

Fresh diced tomatoes, onions, garlic, jalapeno peppers, olive oil, lemon juice & spices (served cold)

Wat (Stews):

Doro Wat (S)

Tender chicken legs and thighs simmered in a Berbere red pepper sauce with onions and spices served 

with a hard boiled egg  

Tibs Wat (S)

Tender cubed beef sauteed with tomatoes, onions, rosemary, and jalapenos 

Misir Wat (S) (V)

Split red lentils simmered in a spicy tomato based berbere sauce with onions, garlic, and spices

Gomen Wat (V) 

Chopped collard greens and kale simmered with onions, garlic, and spices 

Atakilt Wat (V)

Cabbage, potato & carrots cooked with onion, garlic, and a touch of turmeric

Kik Alicha (V)

Yellow split peas cooked with onions, green peppers, garlic, and spices
