Summer Shakespeare Workshop of Love’s Labour’s Lost

July 21 - August 14

Let’s the Games Begin...

Threshold Repertory Theatre’s Summer Shakespeare Workshop combines new and veteran actors in a full production of one of the Bard’s classics. We ask you to join us in celebrating the Summer Shakespeare Program’s 5th year. This year, Love’s Labour’s Lost will hit the stage July 21st - August 14th. In collaboration with the production we will be hosting a FREE Shakespeare Workshop taught by renown Shakespearian Actors and Co-Artistic Directors of Actor’s Theatre of SC, Clarence Felder and Chris Weatherhead. The workshop will be held on July 2nd at Threshold Repertory Theatre from 1pm - 4pm. The workshop is FREE to the public and everyone is welcome to watch and/or participate.

No stranger to the Summer Shakespeare Program, Director Danielle Festa says “the major humor in Love's Labour's Lost is found in the characters' use of puns, metaphors, and mispronunciations.” The King of Navarre and his three lords have sworn off women, vowing to remain committed to their studies for three years. So what happens when the Princess of France and her beautiful maidens arrive in their court? It’s the makings of one of Shakespeare’s best comedies. “As courtly life goes in this play, language and the ability to turn a phrase is considered high entertainment. And these young, bored, rich lords are desperate for entertainment. And the foreign ladies they encounter use their language to look for substance beyond the fun and games,” say Festa.

Staying true to Shakespeare’s language, Festa takes liberties in her overall design by esthetically modernizing the production. Veteran Costume Designer Kristen Bushey is at the helm to bring Shakespeare to the 21st century. See this hilarious game of cat and mouse on stage Thursday -Saturday at 8pm and the last three Sundays at 3pm.
